What You ll Do
As a Cardiology Veterinary Technician at Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital, you will be an essential part of a team providing top-tier care for pets facing heart disease and cardiac conditions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with advanced cardiac diagnostics, including echocardiograms, ECGs, and radiographs
- Positioning, sedating, and monitoring patients during procedures
- Preparing patients for cardiology appointments, including reviewing and interpreting bloodwork, medical history, and diagnostics
- Administering and monitoring medications, ensuring safe and accurate patient care
- Communicating effectively and empathetically with clients during consultations, discharges, and follow-up updates
- Maintaining accurate patient records and supporting seamless case management
- Collaborating closely with board-certified cardiologists and fellow technicians to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Supporting other hospital teams as needed once Cardiology duties are complete, including assisting with anesthesia or emergency tasks when applicable

Anticipated Schedule
This is a full-time position with the following schedule:
- Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with one day per week spent at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates
Compensation
- Starting at $24.00/hour

What We re Looking For
We re seeking Veterinary Technicians who thrive when caring for animals, solving problems under pressure, and working collaboratively. Our ideal candidate has:
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical setting; cardiology experience is appreciated
- CVT/LVT/RVT licensure preferred
- Strong proficiency with patient monitoring, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and cardiac diagnostics
- Solid understanding of veterinary medical terminology, medications, and disease processes
- Strong communication skills for client education and team collaboration
- Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
