Job Description
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our Internal Medicine practice. The Medical Assistant will support Dr. Gray and clinical staff by providing high-quality patient care, assisting with clinical and administrative duties, and ensuring efficient office operations. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and committed to delivering excellent patient service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and oxygen saturation.
- Record and update patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and other pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures.
- Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, EKGs, injections, and other clinical procedures as permitted by state regulations and practice policies.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up instructions.
- Process prescription refill requests and prior authorizations under provider direction.
- Maintain exam rooms, medical equipment, and clinical supplies.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Document patient interactions accurately and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient check-in/check-out procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and support quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems and basic computer applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Internal Medicine, Primary Care, or Family Medicine practice.
- Experience with chronic disease management, preventive care, and population health initiatives.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
