Northern Apache County Special Health Care District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our growing healthcare team. Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, weight, and pulse.
  • Collect laboratory specimens and perform basic clinical testing.
  • Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Maintain examination rooms and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  • Perform patient screening and triage activities.
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
  • Interpret/translate for providers when needed.

Administrative Duties

  • Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer phones and route calls appropriately.
  • Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Schedule appointments and referrals.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Open and close the clinic as assigned.
  • Assist with quality control and clinic operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification.
  • Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Associate Degree in Medical Assisting or related medical specialty with one (1) year of experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Navajo.
