About the Role

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and patient caregiver to provide respite care for a child (son) with ongoing support needs. This position gives the family relief while ensuring the child receives safe, structured, and supportive care.

The caregiver will provide supervision, assistance with daily routines, and transportation to therapy appointments, including occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), speech therapy, and other scheduled appointments as needed.

This is a part-time, ongoing position with approximately 30 hours per month, based on therapy schedules and family needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, attentive supervision and respite care for a child in home and community settings
• Assist with personal care as needed (hygiene, grooming, dressing, etc.)
• Transport the child to and from therapy appointments (including OT, PT, speech therapy, and other medical/therapy visits)
• Ensure the child’s safety at all times during care and transportation
• Support daily routines and structure
• Engage the child in appropriate activities and companionship
• Follow care instructions provided by the family and agency
• Maintain clear and respectful communication with the family
• Provide a calm, supportive, and positive environment
• Be attentive, proactive, and responsive to the child’s needs

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Previous childcare, caregiving, or respite experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
• Clean driving record preferred
• Comfortable working with children who require additional support
• Dependable, patient, and responsible
• Able to follow instructions and work independently
• Strong communication skills

Position Details

• Non-medical respite caregiving role
• Approximately 30 hours per month
• Ongoing assignment (not temporary)
• Flexible schedule based on therapy and family needs
• No benefits provided (part-time role)
• Pay based on experience

Pay

$16.00 – $18.00 per hour
