Description
The Senior Product Support Analyst – DMSMS / Obsolescence Management serves as an experienced Integrated Product Support (IPS) professional responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), component obsolescence risks, and lifecycle sustainment challenges supporting complex defense systems for the Persistent Surveillance Program.
This position integrates engineering, supply chain, configuration management, logistics, and program requirements to develop proactive sustainment strategies that ensure systems remain operationally available, supportable, and affordable throughout their lifecycle.
The analyst will develop and maintain obsolescence management processes, perform lifecycle analysis, recommend mitigation strategies, and support sustainment planning across multiple programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead DMSMS and obsolescence management activities supporting lifecycle sustainment of assigned systems and programs.
- Monitor, analyze, and assess parts, components, assemblies, and system configurations to identify obsolescence risks.
- Develop and maintain DMSMS management plans, reports, metrics, risk registers, dashboards, and mitigation strategies.
- Conduct lifecycle analysis to identify:
• End-of-Life (EOL) components
• End-of-support risks
• Supplier and manufacturer changes
• Material shortages
• Technology refresh requirements
- Coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain, Configuration Management, Product Support, Provisioning, Maintenance Analysis, and Program Management teams to develop mitigation strategies.
- Support resolution strategies including:
• Alternate part identification
• Engineering change recommendations
• Supplier coordination
• Lifetime buy analysis
• Redesign recommendations
• Technology insertion planning
- Review engineering data, Bills of Material (BOM), Technical Data Packages (TDP), drawings, and configuration documentation to determine lifecycle sustainment impacts.
- Support Integrated Product Support activities associated with:
• Product Support Management
• Supply Support
• Design Interface
• Sustaining Engineering
• Maintenance Planning
• Technical Data Management
- Participate in Logistics Requirements Reviews (LRRs), Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical reviews, program reviews, and customer sustainment discussions.
- Support development, review, and delivery of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) products associated with DMSMS, lifecycle sustainment, and product support requirements.
- Support development of department-level DMSMS standard operating procedures, processes, tools, and best practices.
- Provide recommendations to reduce lifecycle cost, improve operational availability, and enhance long-term system readiness.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience in logistics, product support, sustainment engineering, supply chain, lifecycle management, maintenance, or related technical discipline; or 6+ years with MS degree.
- Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience supporting DoD logistics, sustainment, maintenance, supply chain, engineering, or product support activities.
- Experience analyzing technical data, parts information, bills of material, configuration documentation, or lifecycle support requirements.
- Understanding of lifecycle sustainment concepts and Integrated Product Support principles.
- Ability to coordinate across engineering, programs, suppliers, customers, and functional organizations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing or supporting formal DMSMS / Obsolescence Management programs.
- Knowledge of:

• Integrated Product Support Elements
• SD-22 DMSMS Guidebook principles
• MIL-STD-3018 Parts Management
• GEIA-STD-0007 Logistics Product Data
- Experience using:
• Obsolescence forecasting tools
• Parts databases
• Configuration management systems
• Product lifecycle management tools
- Experience supporting defense systems including air defense, radar, C5ISR, or ground systems.
- Prior military logistics, maintenance, acquisition, supply, or sustainment experience.
