Estimator - Structural Steel

Dynamic, rapidly growing, and family-owned Steel Fabrication and Installation construction contracting company has an opportunity for you to use your experience in estimating structural steel and metal fabricating projects and to contribute to the strategic development of this organization.

The Estimator will be responsible for accurately assessing project requirements, preparing detailed estimates, and collaborating with the Sales and Project Management teams to ensure successful project outcomes. In addition, you will also be responsible for processing the full cycle for work on steel detailing projects.  Create estimates from detail drawings of beams, columns and miscellaneous structural members from architectural drawings using AutoCAD and DetailCAD.

Responsibilities:

• Assess project specifications and requirements through thorough review and analysis
• Collaborate with General Contractors when necessary to gather accurate measurements and project details
• Utilize historical data, cost databases, and industry benchmarks to develop accurate project estimates
• Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
• Prepare clear and detailed proposals outlining project scope, pricing, and terms
• Ensure proposals align with company standards and customer expectations
• Generate comprehensive bid documentation, including itemized costs and project timelines
• Communicate effectively with the Sales, Operations & Finance teams to address any inquiries related to bids
• Participate in meetings to understand project requirements and address questions
• Present estimates and proposals to customers in a clear and professional manner

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Proven experience as an Estimator in the steel building design and fabrication industry
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Proficient in relevant Office Suite & Google tools for estimating
• Two (2) plus years of experience as an Estimator “Structural Steel” for fabrication and installation projects
• Create estimates from shop fabrication drawings and field drawings for beams, columns, railings, stairs, and layout & erection plans
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Detail CAD or other estimating software products
• Must be able to read and interpret architectural blueprints
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all employees
