Job Description
Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, active Occupational Therapist license and 1+ year of Occupational Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a dynamic contract role supporting students' growth and independence as a School-Based Occupational Therapist. You'll provide services primarily at an elementary school, with a focus on making a meaningful impact on young learners. Working approximately 2 ½ days a week during the school hours of 8:35 a.m. to 3:38 p.m., you'll manage a caseload of around 25 students, collaborating closely with school staff and administration. This is an ideal opportunity for those who value a part-time schedule and the ability to support multiple schools within the district.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Michigan
- Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and familiarity with school documentation requirements
- Ability to develop and deliver targeted interventions for students with diverse needs
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills for meetings with teachers, administrators, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services to eligible students, focusing on achieving IEP goals
- Screen, assess, and evaluate students to determine therapy needs
- Develop individualized intervention plans to enhance student participation and performance in daily activities
- Document progress and communicate findings effectively to both school staff and families
- Collaborate with educators to integrate therapeutic strategies into classroom routines
- Serve as a resource to help foster an inclusive and supportive educational environment
