Histology Technician

Position: Histology Technician

Location: West Sacramento, CA

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am or 9am start time, 8 hour shift

Duration: 6 month contract + possible extension

Compensation: $35/hour to $39/hour. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a Histopathology Laboratory, manually processing samples.
• Hands on experience working with a microtone to slice specimen into sections.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance and HIPAA.

Nice to Have:

• Histotechnician (HT) certification or Histotechnologist / Scientists in Histotechnology (HTL) certification.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performing histological procedures including specimen embedding, sectioning, and staining. 
• Assistance in the gross room, accessioning, cassette and slide labeling. 
• Ability to work efficiently without much supervisory direction over hours as needed.
• Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis and further complex testing.
• Maintains and operates laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures.
• Some Anatomical Pathology duties.
• Managing a Bio-Repository.
• Demonstrates knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs.
• Investigates documents, communicates and resolves needs, problems or complaints.
• Performs area-specific support/clinical activities.
• Train other testing personnel.
• Work is mainly laboratory-based with some time spent in the office writing up experiments, validation documents, and standard operating procedures.
