The Accessioner I is responsible for accurately processing and cataloging laboratory samples, primarily blood, for clinical analysis. In this role, you help ensure that laboratory professionals receive precise and well-documented specimens so they can perform reliable diagnostic testing and support patient treatment decisions. You will work closely with other laboratory staff and cross-functional teams to maintain high standards of data integrity and testing accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Receive and triage all specimens for clinical testing, including blood, urine, and tissue samples, ensuring proper labeling and handling.
- Verify and accession samples into the laboratory workflow, confirming that all required information and documentation are complete.
- Manage clinical information within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Perform internal audits of clinical charts to confirm data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with laboratory procedures.
- Collaborate with various departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure testing accuracy throughout the sample lifecycle.
- Follow established laboratory protocols and quality standards to maintain specimen integrity and reliable test results.
- Prioritize and organize daily workload to meet deadlines and support timely clinical testing.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to support overall laboratory operations and continuous improvement.
- 0–2 years of work experience in a laboratory or related environment.
- Experience with specimen processing, including handling and preparing clinical samples for testing.
- Proficiency in sample verification and accessioning procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory workflows and basic laboratory practices.
- Ability to manage and enter clinical information accurately within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Proven attention to accuracy, detail, and adherence to deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and within a team setting.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple specimens and tasks efficiently.
- AS or BS degree in biological sciences preferred.
- Understanding of clinical testing processes and quality standards is a plus.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional laboratory teams.
This position operates in a clinical laboratory environment on a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. You will work with laboratory information systems and standard lab equipment while handling biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue. The role requires consistent attention to detail, adherence to established safety and handling protocols, and the ability to collaborate with other laboratory professionals in a structured, process-driven setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Lincoln, NE.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
