Roles & Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operating room before surgical procedures by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and functioning.
• Prepare patients for surgery and assist with positioning and draping.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and other members of the surgical team during procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team to ensure efficient workflow.
• Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and supplies according to protocol.
• Assist with specimen handling and labeling.
• Clean and restock the operating room following procedures.
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies at all times.
• Participate in on-call coverage as required.

Requirements:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
• BLS Certification
• Recent operating room experience in an acute care setting
