Job Description
Gibraltar is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee and manage heavy civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating field operations, ensuring project safety, maintaining schedule adherence, and delivering quality work in accordance with contract requirements.
This position requires a highly qualified construction professional with extensive heavy civil and design-build experience. The Superintendent must remain onsite whenever construction activities are taking place and may not perform any other project duties while serving in this role.
Essential Responsibilities- Provide overall field leadership and supervision for heavy civil construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and labor resources.
- Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and contract requirements.
- Interpret and execute construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Monitor and manage project schedules, including critical path activities.
- Conduct daily site inspections and maintain quality control standards.
- Lead safety meetings and enforce project safety requirements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Owners, Engineers, Inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Maintain project documentation, daily reports, and field records.
- Identify and resolve field issues to minimize impacts to schedule and budget.
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience serving as a Construction Superintendent.
- Must have successfully completed at least two (2) heavy civil design-build projects within the last 15 years, with each project having a construction value of $10 million or greater.
- Must have completed the USACE EM 385-1-1 24-Hour Construction Safety Training within the last five (5) years.
- Proof of completion must be submitted with the resume.
- Resume must clearly demonstrate experience:
- Interpreting and managing critical path schedules.
- Reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- Must be capable of overseeing all onsite construction activities and maintaining project schedule compliance.
- Must be onsite whenever construction activities are taking place.
- May not perform any other project duties while serving as Superintendent.
- Experience working on federal, military, border infrastructure, or large-scale civil construction projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with construction scheduling software and project management tools.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to walk active construction sites and traverse uneven terrain.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
