Job Description
A hospital in Missoula is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join its oncology services team. This position offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative cancer care environment, delivering prescribed radiation treatments to patients while supporting safety, precision, and compassionate care.
Position Overview
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the accurate administration of radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. This role involves operating specialized treatment equipment, ensuring precise patient positioning, and maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols and treatment plans.
The therapist works closely with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, nurses, and the broader oncology care team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered cancer treatment.
Key Responsibilities
• Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients
• Operate linear accelerators and related radiation treatment equipment
• Verify patient identity, treatment plans, and positioning prior to each session
• Monitor patient condition during treatment and report any changes to the care team
• Ensure accurate documentation of treatment delivery and patient records
• Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self
• Collaborate with oncology physicians and clinical staff to support treatment planning
• Educate patients on treatment procedures and expectations
• Maintain equipment readiness and report technical issues as needed
Qualifications
• Associate degree in Radiation Therapy required
• Certified Radiation Therapist credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Strong understanding of radiation safety practices and oncology treatment protocols
• Excellent communication and patient care skills required
