SUMMARY

The Coordinator of Athletic Game Day Management & Assistant Men's Basketball Coach will assist the Head Men's Basketball Coach in all aspects of the men's basketball program. Generate camp and clinic plan to be implemented during academic year. Assist in the development of external marketing material out of the department of athletics. Ensure campus recreation programming for all students, faculty and staff on HSSU's campus. Additionally, Coordinator of Athletic Game Day Management is responsible for the overall gameday experience for students and HSSU fans. This position is responsible for gym/field set-up for all HSSU sports and needs to work with each Head Coach, the AD, and the SID to ensure a smooth game day experience.

Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the NAIA.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
  • Scouting and Recruiting.
  • Assist in developing game plans and breaking down film.
  • Uploading game film.
  • Managing travel and travel budget under the supervision of the Head Basketball Coach.
  • Provide leadership to all camps and clinics to include marketing, advertising and other logistics.
  • Provide coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach.

Game Day:

  • Assist in the planning of practice sessions and competitive coaching situations.
  • Assess and evaluate talent and recruitment of student-athletes.
  • Develop scouting reports and pre-competition of opponents.
  • Assist with men's basketball alumni and fund raising.
  • Monitor the training, academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes.
  • Assist with game day operations for Men's and Women's Basketball.
  • Collaborate with the spirit squads, dance team, and the drum line to design gameday experiences.
  • Serve as a liaison with local youth organizations and educational institutions to cultivate pipeline programs to expose elementary, middle and high school students to sporting events on campus.
  • Partner with SGA, Greeks, and other student organizations to encourage student involvement at sporting events.
  • Ensures that all facilities are functional, safe and NAIA compliant for all practice and competition activities.
  • Ensures referees and visiting teams get to and from locker rooms and locker – point person.
  • Works with the SID and student workers to ensure game day runs smoothly.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and under time sensitive deadlines, often with numerous interruptions.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs including: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and webpage development experience.
  • Ability to set up and operate audio and visual equipment.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • The work environment requires the incumbent to communicate courteously and follow customer service standards, at times under stressful circumstances.


PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

  • Physical ability to type at a keyboard and/or use a computer terminal for up to two hours at a time, several times a day and lift objects up to 151bs.
