Position Description and Qualifications:

The EHS Safety Facilitator leads environmental, health, and safety initiatives across multiple locations, driving compliance, strengthening a culture of safety, and proactively identifying and mitigating risk. This role partners with employees at all levels to ensure safe work practices through hands-on engagement, training, and continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment, Environmental Aspects & Documentation

  • Lead and document comprehensive safety and environmental risk assessments at all four locations.

  • Identify hazards and environmental aspects and impacts, evaluate risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, corrective actions, and follow-ups.

  • Participate in GEMBA walks to observe operations, identify safety and environmental risks, and reinforce safe work practices through real-time engagement.

Site Support & Travel

  • Coordinate and schedule safety and environmental inspections across all locations, including follow-up tracking and corrective action closure.

  • Support multi-site alignment of inspection practices, checklists, and expectations.

  • Serve as the primary EHS and EMS contact for site-level safety and environmentalconcerns,initiatives.

  • Leads the internal and external audits, regulatory inspections, and management reviews, including preparation of documentation and tracking of corrective actions.

Staff Engagement & Training

  • Provide guidance and support to employees and supervisors on safety, environmental compliance, and EMS responsibilities.

  • Conduct safety and environmental training sessions, toolbox talks, and onboarding for new hires.

  • Promote a proactive culture of safety and environmental stewardship through regular communication, visibility, and on-site engagement.

Compliance, Program and EMS Management

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other environmental, health, and safety regulations, permits, and requirements.

  • Monitor changes in OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations, and recommend updates to programs and procedures.

  • Coordinate and maintain the Environmental Management System, ensuring it is implemented, maintained, and continually improved across all sites.

  • Develop, maintain, and control EHS and EMS documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.

  • Monitor environmental performance indicators and recommend improvements to management.

  • Serve as EMS Lead and Internal Auditor, coordinating internal EMS audits and supporting management reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report safety and environmental performance metrics, trends, and key indicators to staff and leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable warehouse and operational safety regulations, including relevant CFR requirements and internal standards.

  • Support powered industrial equipment safety requirements, including training coordination, inspections, and compliance documentation.

  • Coordinates and attends company social and environmental activities that support community sustainability and outreach efforts

  • Collects, validates, and submits monthly utility and resource consumption data into the EcoTrack system in accordance with corporate reporting requirements.

  • Manages and responds to parent company email inquiries, including mid-term reporting requests and other unplanned or ad hoc data needs

  • Ownership of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) control, hazardous material tracking, and compliance assurance. This role ensures that all hazardous materials are properly identified, documented, communicated, reviewed, and audited in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and ISO 14001 standards

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Develop, maintain, and test emergency response plans addressing fire, chemical spills, medical events, and environmental releases.

  • Coordinate and lead emergency drills, training exercises and certification courses (First Aid, CPR, etc)

  • Act as a key point of contact during emergency events and ensure post-incident documentation and corrective actions.

Contractor & Visitor Safety

  • Support contractor safety programs, including EHS onboarding, orientation, and compliance verification.

  • Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to site safety and environmental requirements.

  • Support visitor safety awareness and escort requirements as applicable.

Ergonomics & Occupational Health

  • Support ergonomic assessments and injury prevention initiatives.

  • Coordinate occupational health programs such as hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and exposure monitoring.

  • Support return to work and job hazard analysis efforts as needed

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Coordinate all safety incident reporting across all sites, ensuring consistent documentation, timely reporting, and leadership visibility.

  • Maintain and support emergency contingency and emergency preparedness programs, including drills, response planning, and post-event evaluations.

  • Investigate safety incidents, near misses, environmental incidents, and compliance issues.

  • Prepare reports, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions to management.

  • Track closure and effectiveness of corrective actions related to both safety and environmental performance.

  • Prepare reports for leadership, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).

EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 3 years' experience in EHS and/or safety coordination, facilitation or technical support in the areas of ensuring safety compliance. Strong knowledge of OSHA and environment regulations. Experience in Automotive manufacturing and or warehouse operations. Experience with safety or environment management systems (applications) a plus.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS- PREFERRED (one or more of the following)

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel between sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Japanese and or Spanishlanguage skill is a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, , or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and support development of procedure manuals. An ability to present information and facilitate question and answer discussion among groups of managers and teammates.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS suite of software, Word, Excel and PPT. Working knowledge of Office O365, Project Management and Share Point applications a plus.
