Job Summary
This posting establishes an ongoing pool of candidates for adjunct instructor positions in the School of Business, with primary teaching needs in Accounting. Applications will be reviewed and candidates pursued when openings are available. Hired adjunct faculty will teach assigned accounting courses and support the schools commitment to preparing career-ready, faith-formed business graduates who are grounded ethically, prepared professionally, and connected to employer and community needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following and other duties assigned.
- Teaches one or more subjects within the Department for the course/s which you have been appointed to teach for the particular academic semester/term
- Prepares and delivers instruction to students via mode as discussed with supervisor (online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face)
- Meets classes as scheduled
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations and other student learning assignments
- Reports student attendance electronically, via Brightspace or Gateway. Training to use these systems will be made available to the instructor
- Assesses and reports student achievement validly and reliably
- Communicates with students consistently and in a timely manner
- Connects accounting course content to professional practice, ethical decision-making, career readiness, and business applications relevant to students future work and service.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
A masters degree in accounting or a closely related field, or at least 18 graduate-level hours in accounting, is required. A Ph.D., DBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification is preferred. Prior university teaching experience is preferred. Knowledge of Brightspace is preferred. Professional experience in accounting, auditing, tax, financial reporting, managerial accounting, or related areas is also preferred.

Dates and Limitations of Employment - Adjunct faculty employment is a temporary appointment for a single semester to teach specific courses and compensated on a course-by-course basis. Neither the adjunct faculty member nor Howard Payne University are obligated once the semester of appointment is completed. Future appointments may be made when the adjunct faculty member and HPU agree to a new appointment for a future semester.
