JOB TITLE: Adjunct Faculty for the Early College Program
DEPARTMENT: Communication and Media Studies
SCHOOL: Arts, Sciences, and Technology
REPORTS TO: Communication and Media Studies Department Chair

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communication and Media Studies Department is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty positions in Communication Basics at area high schools. Early morning in-seat classes are twice a week and are available at Oakside Preparatory School, Oxford High School, and Lake Orion High School.
Adjunct contracts are less than part-time and made on a semester-by-semester basis, but often result in recurring assignments within a regular course rotation. Adjunct openings often occur on short notice as additional sections of classes open based on enrollment numbers. Applications are always welcome.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline. or a master’s degree and at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline or a closely related discipline.
- Candidates with terminal degrees and other specialized training are also highly desired.
- Previous teaching experience is preferred; candidates willing to receive mentorship will be considered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the chair on the syllabus and curriculum situated within RCU learning goals.
- Effectively plan active learning assignments in multiple modalities for student engagement.
- Confidentially create and maintain appropriate educational records to document the academic performance of students.
- Fulfill adjunct duties as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
- Stay current in departmental and university policies, procedures, and practices related to the classroom to provide accurate information and support to students.
- Promote an inclusive RCU and participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to the success of all students.
