We are looking for a Trailer Maintenance A team member to help maintain, repair, and inspect trailers and related equipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical ability, basic electrical knowledge, and hands-on experience working with trailer components, brake systems, lighting, tires, decking, and related repairs.
Summary
The Trailer Maintenance A position is responsible for performing maintenance and repair work on company trailers while also supporting vehicle and plant mechanics as needed. This person should be dependable, mechanically skilled, safety-focused, and able to complete assigned work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on company trailers, including tires, lights, decking, brakes, and related components.
- Troubleshoot and repair basic DC electrical systems.
- Read and use parts manuals, service manuals, electrical schematics, and pneumatic schematics.
- Assist vehicle mechanics and plant mechanics with repairs, maintenance, and other assigned tasks.
- Complete work orders and maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
- Help identify equipment issues and communicate needed repairs to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and equipment maintenance standards.
- Participate in on-call support as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or trade school diploma required.
- Previous experience in trailer maintenance, vehicle maintenance, diesel, fleet, or a related mechanical field preferred.
- Must have strong mechanical ability and be comfortable performing hands-on repairs.
- Basic understanding of DC electrical systems required.
- Ability to inspect, repair, and replace trailer components, including tires, lights, decking, brakes, and related parts.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, parts manuals, electrical schematics, and pneumatic schematics.
- Must have a personal tool set.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Spanish-speaking ability is highly desirable.
- Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be flexible and willing to assist vehicle mechanics, plant mechanics, and other maintenance team members as needed.
Environment and Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and move objects up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in a maintenance/shop environment.
- Must be comfortable working around trailers, vehicles, equipment, and moving parts.
