About this job
Job Description
Express Employment Professionals (North Hollywood) is partnering with a manufacturing client in Burbank to hire a Precision Tooling and Die Fabrication Specialist. To learn more or apply quickly, call 818-332-1622.
A Day in This RoleYou start your shift by reviewing blueprints, sketches, models, or written descriptions. You visualize the final tool or die, select the appropriate metal stock, and map out the sequence of operations. From there, you lay out material, mark and scribe for machining, and set up the equipment that will bring the design to life.
On the machines—lathes, mills, shapers, and grinders—you program and run precise operations, checking each part as it comes off the spindle. You confirm tolerances using micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, and thickness gauges. When required, you smooth flat and contoured surfaces using scrapers, abrasive stones, and power grinders, then fit and assemble components into complete tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools.
Heat treatment is part of the craft, and you perform it as needed to achieve the right hardness and performance. You may review existing dies, tools, and fixtures to recommend design tweaks that improve function or manufacturability. At times, you’ll develop specs from general concepts and produce a quick sketch to communicate the design. And as with any shop role, you pitch in with other related duties as assigned.
