Job Summary:
The Will Call Foreman is responsible for leading the will-call team and overseeing all aspects of customer order fulfillment within the lumber yard. This role ensures that will-call operations are executed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with company standards. The Will Call Foreman supervises loaders and support staff, enforces safety and inventory procedures, and maintains a clean and organized work environment. Reporting directly to the Inventory Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting inventory control initiatives and delivering a high-quality customer experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of lumber and building materials (LBM) operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Oversight:
Supervise and direct the will-call team, including loaders and support staff. Ensure accountability for performance, adherence to procedures, and customer service standards.
Order Fulfillment Management:
Oversee the staging, verification, and loading of customer orders. Ensure accuracy in product selection, tagging, and documentation to support inventory control and reduce shrink.
Process Compliance & Execution:
Enforce will-call procedures as defined by the Inventory Manager. Monitor team performance and ensure consistent execution of company standards for order handling and customer interaction.
Safety & Equipment Management:
Promote and enforce safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques and equipment operation. Ensure all team members are trained and compliant with safety protocols.
Inventory Coordination:
Communicate regularly with the Inventory Manager regarding stock levels, product discrepancies, and special order handling. Support cycle counts and tagging initiatives through accurate documentation and reporting.
Customer Interaction Support:
Ensure a professional and efficient customer experience during pickups. Assist with escalated customer concerns and coordinate with sales and delivery teams as needed.
Facility Organization & Maintenance:
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free will-call area. Oversee product staging zones and ensure materials are stored and handled properly.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 23 years in warehouse, yard, or inventory operations, preferably within the lumber and building materials industry.
Skills:
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to train and supervise team members effectively.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with LBM products, order fulfillment procedures, and material-handling equipment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy materials, operate forklifts and saws, and work outdoors in varying conditions.
