Job Description
The Laminator Operator I is responsible for safely operating laminating and related production equipment while ensuring product quality, food safety (SQF standards), and efficient production output. This role reports to the Department Manager and plays a key part in maintaining machine performance, material handling accuracy, and a clean, compliant manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mix adhesives according to established formulas and production specifications
- Set up, operate, and monitor laminating equipment and lathe machines when required
- Verify first-piece output against quality and specification standards
- Accurately interpret job orders and production instructions
- Calculate and verify adhesive usage for each production run
- Load adhesives, change raw material rolls, and manage substrates during operation
- Inspect, verify, and adjust impression rollers; cut or resurface as needed
- Maintain machine cleanliness and work area compliance with SQF and food safety standards
- Handle hazardous waste using approved satellite container procedures
- Report quality issues, food safety concerns, unsafe acts, and incidents immediately
- Support production coverage, audits, near-miss reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of machine operator experience (laminator experience preferred but not required)
- Experience measuring materials and working with chemicals in a production setting
- Ability to accurately read a ruler or tape measure
- Basic math skills (calculations for production and materials)
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment that may involve noise, dirt, or chemicals
- Strong record of attendance, safety awareness, and quality focus
