Retail Store Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of our retail store. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving sales, managing staff, maintaining excellent customer service standards, controlling inventory, and ensuring overall store profitability and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop store employees.
  • Create employee schedules and manage labor costs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues.

Sales & Customer Service

  • Drive sales growth through exceptional customer service and effective merchandising.
  • Ensure customers receive prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable assistance.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve store goals.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.

Operations Management

  • Oversee daily store operations, opening and closing procedures, and cash management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked store environment.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment efforts.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Analyze inventory performance and identify opportunities to improve turns and profitability.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly displayed, priced, and promoted.
  • Coordinate seasonal displays and promotional events.

Financial Performance

  • Manage store expenses and labor budgets.
  • Review financial reports and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve profitability.
  • Maintain accountability for store assets and inventory.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of retail management experience.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills.
  • Proven ability to drive sales and achieve performance goals.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience with inventory management and retail operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Preferred

  • Hardware, home improvement, or specialty retail experience.
  • Experience with POS systems and inventory management software.
  • Knowledge of merchandising and visual presentation standards.
