Assembler – Fabrication
Location: Lafayette, LA
Job Type: TEMP: JULY-SEPTEMBER....POSSIBLY UNTIL MARCH 2027
Position Overview
We are seeking a mechanically inclined Assembler to join our Fabrication team. This role is responsible for assembling skid packaged units and related equipment to ensure proper function, testing, and compliance with customer specifications. The Assembler will work under the direction of the Assembly Lead and collaborate closely with the fabrication team to deliver high-quality, fully operational systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and disassemble packaged skid units in preparation for painting and final build
- Tag and identify components for proper tracking and placement
- Protect piping and equipment from contamination during assembly
- Prepare materials for painting (in-house or vendor-supported)
- Set up and safely perform hydrostatic testing of piping and tubing systems
- Verify all test documentation prior to testing
- Coordinate testing schedules with leadership and client representatives
- Properly install and secure all test equipment to ensure safe operation
- Conduct leak testing on fabricated tanks and systems
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and P&IDs
- Assemble systems accurately under guidance from lead personnel
- Identify and resolve issues with bolts, gaskets, mounting hardware, and components
- Assist with installation and alignment of pump and motor systems
- Includes c-face, direct-coupled, and belt-driven systems
- Perform laser alignment on API pump systems
- Perform full functional pump and system testing from start to finish
- Install proper test components and configure systems safely
- Identify and adapt to special testing requirements
- Charge pressurized systems when required (e.g., dampeners)
- Document test results and report deficiencies
- Review P&IDs for proper tagging and system understanding
- Complete punch list items and ensure all work meets quality standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work environment
- Communicate daily task updates, material needs, and production needs with supervision
- Maintain a constant focus on safety and awareness of surroundings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Work Environment
- Shop-based fabrication environment
Experience: 1–3 years of mechanical, fabrication, or pump-related experience preferred
Certifications:
- Forklift certification required
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and P&IDs
- Good problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
