Job Description

As a Pharmacist at Total Care Pharmacy, you will do more than just dispense medications—you will serve as a vital healthcare resource for our community. You will oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensure strict regulatory compliance, accurately review and dispense prescriptions, and provide compassionate counseling to our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prescription Dispensing & Review: Accurately compound, prepare, and dispense medications. Review prescriptions for correct dosage, drug interactions, and potential adverse reactions.

  • Patient Counseling: Provide professional, empathetic counseling to patients regarding proper medication usage, side effects, and general health management.

  • Operations & Quality Control: Oversee pharmacy technicians and support staff to ensure a smooth, efficient, and safe workflow. Maintain accurate inventory control and documentation.

  • Clinical Services: Administer immunizations and health screenings (where applicable) and manage specialized patient care programs.

  • Insurance & Audit Compliance: Navigate insurance adjudications, prior authorizations, and assist management with quality assurance and insurance audit preparations.

  • Physician Collaboration: Work closely with local healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions, recommend alternative therapies, and optimize patient health outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm) from an accredited school of pharmacy.

  • Licensure: Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the state of [Insert State, e.g., New York].

  • Certifications: Immunization certification and CPR/BLS certification required.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of community or independent pharmacy experience is preferred, but motivated newly licensed pharmacists are welcome to apply.

  • Skills: * Strong knowledge of pharmacy law, regulations, and third-party billing/insurance processes.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first mindset.

    • High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.

    • Proficiency with pharmacy management software systems.
