Position Title: Medical Assistant
Department: Clinical / Operations
Reports To: Provider / Clinical Supervisor / Business Administrator
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. The MA works directly with providers to support patient care while maintaining compliance with company policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Prepare patients by obtaining vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight).
- Assist providers during patient visits.
- Perform approved clinical tasks within scope (e.g., injections, specimen collection) in accordance with company policy.
Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record.
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and organized.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
Administrative Duties
- Verify patient information, including demographics and insurance details.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Coordinate communication between providers, patients, and front desk staff.
- Assist with prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
Compliance & Standards
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and workflow standards.
- Ensure documentation meets compliance and audit requirements.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
Experience with EHR systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
