Manufacturing Test Technician

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Test Technician supports manufacturing operations by improving production processes, maintaining test equipment, troubleshooting production issues, and assisting with new product introductions. This role works closely with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize efficiency, quality, safety, and overall production performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and validation of products, assemblies, and test stations.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve production processes and reduce waste.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including Kaizen events, 5S activities, and Value Stream Mapping projects.
• Assist Manufacturing Engineers with developing standard work instructions and line balancing to improve productivity and workflow.
• Identify and troubleshoot process, material, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
• Develop, assemble, procure, modify, and maintain tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support efficient manufacturing operations.
• Conduct time studies and analyze production processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Process Introduction activities.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation.
• Review engineering documentation and submit change orders, corrective actions, and deviation requests when necessary.
• Assist with failure analysis investigations and root cause determination.
• Perform tests, collect production data, and prepare reports to support manufacturing and engineering teams.
• Conduct preventive maintenance activities and recommend improvements to preventive maintenance checklists to increase test station uptime and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives to improve workplace safety across the facility.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to testing, maintenance, and process improvement activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing, production, testing, or engineering support environment preferred.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documents.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data collection/reporting tools.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
