Role Overview
As the Maître D’, you will serve as the prominent "Face" of the restaurant's front door and a vital floor manager. This unique hybrid position requires an elite hospitality leader who excels at managing high-pressure guest reservation flows (OpenTable), while seamlessly executing essential back-of-house operational duties. You will lead, mentor, and organize the host team, handle VIP relations, and collaborate directly with upper management to maintain pristine service and administrative standards.
Key Responsibilities
Front Door Leadership: Command the front door layout, welcome guests with an elite level of professionalism, and make a flawless, lasting first impression.
Reservation Flow & Logistics: Masterfully manage dining room seating capacity, coordinate table rotations, oversee lounge seating, and handle special event RSVPs under heavy volume.
Host Team Training: Directly supervise, schedule, orient, and train the front-desk staff, enforcing strict service standards and a positive work culture.
Backend Admin & Finance: Execute essential operational tasks, including cash handling, deposit preparation, building host work schedules, and preparing required reports.
Operational Oversight: Investigate and resolve guest accommodations or service complaints instantly, manage host desk inventory/supplies, and monitor overall floor pacing.
What It Takes (Minimum Requirements)
Experience: Proven experience as a Maître D’, Lead Host, or Floor Manager in a high-volume, upscale, or fine-dining restaurant setting.
Systems Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of OpenTable (or comparable reservation platforms) optimizing dining room capacities is required.
Leadership Background: Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and build front-of-house teams, write staff schedules, and manage personnel issues (including disciplinary write-ups) calmly under pressure.
Polish & Flexibility: Exceptional communication skills, a professional fine-dining appearance, and full open availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
