Job Title: CNC Operator – 27-30/hr
Job Description
This role operates a variety of drilling and machining equipment to fabricate precision parts in a large manufacturing environment. The drilling operator applies shop mathematics, interprets blueprints, and uses measuring instruments to set up and run equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring parts are produced to exact specifications and delivered on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Operate upright drill presses, CNC machining centers, saws, radial arm drills, hand drills, and related machining equipment to fabricate parts according to specifications.
- Apply shop mathematics, including decimals, complex fractions, and simple algebra, to determine cutting depths, feed rates, and revolutions per minute for various products.
- Use measuring instruments such as protractors, framing squares, tape measures, tri-squares, center finders, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy.
- Interpret and understand material requirements and specifications as stated on blueprints and drawings to plan and perform machining operations.
- Decide the sequence of setups, operations, and processes within recognized methods and procedures to complete work in process according to work schedules and shipping constraints.
- Coordinate with personnel in the small parts area to maintain proper sequencing of operations on specific parts and balance workloads.
- Monitor equipment performance during operation and make adjustments to maintain quality, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following established safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
- Document work performed as required, including recording measurements, settings, and any deviations from standard procedures.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 6 months of experience operating a CNC machine or similar equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, including working with decimals and complex fractions.
- Proficiency in using shop mathematics to determine cutting depths, feed rates, and revolutions per minute.
- Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools such as tape measures and micrometers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings to understand material requirements and specifications.
- Experience operating CNC mills, CNC lathes, and other CNC machining equipment.
- Experience with machining processes and equipment, including tube bending, cutoff operations, and lathe operation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Comfort working with a variety of drilling and machining equipment, including upright drill presses, radial arm drills, and hand drills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing parts within tight tolerances.
- Ability to plan and sequence setups and operations to meet production schedules and shipping buffers.
- Effective collaboration skills to coordinate workloads and operations with other team members in the small parts area.
- Capability to use a wide range of measuring instruments, including protractors, framing squares, tri-squares, center finders, levers, scribes, calipers, and drill gauges.
- Solid understanding of standard manufacturing methods and procedures and willingness to follow established processes.
- Reliability in working assigned 2nd shift hours and meeting production expectations.

Work Environment
This position works in a big manufacturing environment on 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The role involves regular use of upright drill presses, CNC machining centers, saws, radial arm drills, hand drills, and a variety of measuring instruments. The setting is production-focused, with established safety procedures and structured workflows. Employees should be comfortable in an industrial facility with machinery noise, standing for extended periods, and handling materials and tools throughout the shift. The starting rate is $28.13 per hour
