Position Overview
We are a professional services accounting firm with offices north of Dallas and in Tulsa OK. We are committed to providing the best financial services to our clients and due to growth, we are eager to add a Client Advisory Services Manager to our team of public accounting professionals.
The CAS Manager will lead delivery of outsourced accounting and advisory services for a portfolio of small- to medium-sized business clients. The CAS Manager will oversee client relationships, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, manage day-to-day accounting operations using platforms such as QuickBooks, and provide actionable financial insights to support client decision-making and growth. This role combines technical accounting expertise, strong client-facing skills, and practical experience with accounting systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of CAS engagements, ensuring timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting prepared in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage and review accounting work performed by staff and contractors, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
- Prepare, review, and interpret financial statements and management reports; identify trends, KPIs, and opportunities for client improvement.
- Serve as primary client contact for portfolio clients; build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, business reviews, and proactive advisory recommendations.
- Provide high-quality client advisory services including cash flow forecasting, budgeting, profitability analysis, and tax strategy coordination with tax teams or external advisors.
- Oversee billing and work-in-progress (WIP) tracking for CAS engagements; ensure engagements are scoped, priced, and billed accurately and promptly.
- Coordinate onboarding of new clients including system setup, chart of accounts design, data migration, and establishing internal controls and processes.
- Support payroll processing and sales tax oversight as required or coordinate with specialized teams/providers to ensure compliance.
- Leverage accounting platforms (primarily QuickBooks) and other ERPs (SAP, Xero, Sage Intacct, Dynamics, Great Plains) to optimize client workflows, automate processes, and integrate financial systems.
- Conduct periodic reviews and quality control (including CPA review where applicable) to ensure accuracy and compliance; escalate issues and implement corrective action plans.
- Mentor, train, and develop junior staff; delegate work effectively and foster a service-oriented team culture focused on client success.
- Collaborate with tax, audit and other internal teams to provide coordinated client service and implement tax-efficient strategies where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or eligible CPA candidate preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience in public practice or outsourced accounting environments, with demonstrated experience managing client portfolios.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and preparation/review of financial statements.
- Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks; experience with one or more ERPs such as SAP, Xero, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or Great Plains is highly desirable.
- Proven experience with client advisory services, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and business performance analysis.
- Familiarity with sales tax processes and payroll processing; ability to coordinate compliance activities with specialists.
- Experience with client onboarding, billing practices, and work-in-progress (WIP) management.
- Excellent client relations, communication, and presentation skills; ability to translate technical information into business insights for clients.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including training and mentoring team members.
- Detail-oriented with strong review and quality control skills; experience working with CPAs or participating in reviews preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines concurrently.
