This full-time contract opportunity for a school psychologist offers the chance to work with K-5 elementary students during the 2026 fall semester, from August 24 to December 18. Located near Puyallup, WA, this vital position focuses on helping young learners excel socially, emotionally, and academically within a supportive school environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current (or eligibility to obtain) Washington State School Psychologist license or certification
- Previous experience as a school psychologist, especially within elementary school settings, is highly valued
- Strong ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Proficient in conducting assessments, interpreting results, and recommending interventions
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
- Enthusiastic about promoting students’ mental and emotional well-being
- Reference information must be provided with your application (district will conduct reference checks)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments for K-5 students to identify learning, behavioral, or emotional challenges
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Support classroom teachers with advice on behavioral interventions and academic accommodations
- Participate in meetings with families to discuss student progress and strategies for success
- Deliver crisis intervention and short-term counseling as needed
- Keep detailed records and ensure compliance with all state and federal education regulations
