QC Laboratory Technician – Microbiology | Fort Smith, AR

Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Microbiology Technician to support laboratory and manufacturing operations through microbiological testing of raw materials, utilities, environmental samples, and finished products. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet established quality and safety standards prior to release while supporting environmental monitoring and laboratory compliance programs.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on microbiology laboratory experience, strong aseptic technique, and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative microbiological testing on raw materials, utilities, finished products, and investigation samples.
  • Conduct microbiological analyses including aerobic microbial counts (AMC), Enterobacteria (EB), yeast and mold testing, pH analysis, and other required quality assessments.
  • Utilize microbiological methods such as direct streak and pour plate techniques while maintaining proper aseptic practices.
  • Collect and test utility samples to verify compliance with quality and food/product safety standards.
  • Support environmental monitoring programs through routine sampling, testing, data entry, trend analysis, and reporting.
  • Accurately document and communicate test results in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain microbiological control organisms and ensure proper storage, handling, and usage.
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and performance verification of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with investigations related to product quality, environmental monitoring results, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Follow all safety policies, laboratory procedures, and quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field preferred.
  • Laboratory experience in microbiology, quality control, or quality assurance environments.
  • Knowledge of basic microbiology methods, aseptic technique, plating methods, and sample preparation.
  • Experience performing microbiological testing in a manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or consumer products environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs and laboratory documentation practices.
  • Experience calibrating and maintaining laboratory instrumentation is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.
