Job Title: Environmental Services Technician: 5pm - 1:30am

Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment by thoroughly cleaning patient rooms and common areas, with a strong emphasis on discharge room turnover. You will work primarily on the night shift, using hospital-issued smartphones to receive assignments and access cleaning tutorials, while spending most of your shift on your feet walking throughout a large, fast-paced hospital facility.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize hospital patient rooms, with a primary focus on rooms following patient discharge to ensure they are ready for the next patient.
  • Wipe down medical equipment, high-touch surfaces, and fixtures in patient rooms and common areas according to hospital standards.
  • Empty trash and waste receptacles regularly and dispose of waste in accordance with hospital procedures.
  • Sweep, mop, and dust floors and surfaces throughout assigned areas to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Clean up spills promptly and safely to reduce risk of slips and falls and maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Use hospital-issued iPhones to receive daily assignments, work orders, and task updates, and access cleaning tutorials as needed.
  • Navigate multiple hospital floors and learn the facility layout within a reasonable timeframe to complete assignments efficiently.
  • Follow established environmental services and infection control protocols to properly sanitize rooms and equipment.
  • Adhere to a rotating schedule that includes working every other weekend and every other major holiday.
  • Maintain consistent attendance in line with a three-strike attendance policy.
  • Handle physically demanding tasks, including extended periods of walking and standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and composure while working in a busy trauma center environment where exposure to challenging or jarring situations may occur.
  • Cooperate with background check requirements and follow all hospital policies and procedures related to safety and conduct.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in housekeeping, cleaning, janitorial, custodial, or environmental services roles.
  • Comfort working in a hospital or healthcare facility, or strong willingness to transition into healthcare cleaning.
  • Ability to use smartphone technology, including iPhones, to receive assignments and access training materials.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to spend long periods on your feet and walk extensively throughout a large hospital.
  • Strong attention to detail when cleaning multiple rooms and floors.
  • Willingness and availability to work a rotating schedule, including every other weekend and every other major holiday.
  • Ability to work effectively in a very fast-paced environment and maintain composure in a #1 trauma center setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Previous janitorial or housekeeping experience in healthcare settings is preferred.
  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience in non-healthcare environments is beneficial.
  • Experience in manufacturing or distribution environments with a strong interest in transitioning to healthcare is considered.
  • Familiarity with sanitizing procedures, including mopping, sweeping, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Ability to follow structured attendance and performance policies, including a three-strike attendance policy.
  • Patience and resilience to handle administrative onboarding processes, including potential waiting periods before receiving a hospital badge.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Danville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
