Overview

The Financial Systems Controller serves as a key liaison between Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and IT, with primary responsibility for aftermarket financial analysis and support of controlling and accounting processes. This role has a strong emphasis on inventory accounting, cost accuracy, and end-to-end warehouse and distribution flows. The position plays a critical leadership role in system initiatives, including serving as the finance lead for warehouse management system (WMS) implementations, ensuring alignment with financial controls, data integrity, and reporting requirements. In addition, the role provides operational controlling support to a supply chain and parts distribution organization, driving financial transparency and performance insight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations stakeholders to align system capabilities with business strategies and accounting requirements, with a focus on inventory and distribution processes
  • Serve as the finance lead on WMS implementations and enhancements, ensuring proper design and integration of inventory valuation, transaction flows, and financial postings
  • Analyze financial systems and operational processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, particularly across inventory, warehousing, and order fulfillment
  • Gather, document, and translate business and accounting requirements into functional specifications to support system configuration and development
  • Ensure financial data integrity across systems, including SAP and integrated platforms, with a focus on inventory movements, costing, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Support design and validation of end-to-end processes, including procurement, receiving, inventory management, production, and distribution
  • Perform cost-benefit and ROI analyses to support system investments and process improvement decisions impacting finance and operations

Skills & Qualifications

  • Finance and accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of an end-to-end ERP system such as SAP, including an understanding of how finance and controlling functions are supported within the platform.
  • Experience leading an independent work stream on a complex, multi-dimensional project.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field required; MBA, CPA, or advanced degree preferred
  • 5–7 years of experience in financial systems, business analysis, or finance roles supporting supply chain and operations
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, with emphasis on inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting
  • Experience supporting or leading ERP and/or WMS implementations within a manufacturing, distribution, or logistics environment
  • Working knowledge of SAP, including relevant modules such as FI/CO, MM, and WM/EWM, and understanding of system integrations is preferred
  • Ability to translate financial and operational requirements into system solutions and drive alignment across stakeholders
  • Experience with financial data validation, reconciliations, and internal controls within system environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex systems and data structures
  • Project management capabilities, including managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage both finance and technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes, enhance system efficiency, and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions

This is a Contract position based out of Redford, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
