Job Description
Perform splicing, terminating, and activation of coaxial cables, including hardline and drop cables.
Build, maintain, and repair coaxial plant systems (aerial, underground, and inside plant).
Install and replace amplifiers, splitters, taps, and other network components.
Conduct signal testing using equipment such as signal level meters, spectrum analyzers, and sweep gear.
Perform system sweep and balance, return path testing, and troubleshooting of signal issues.
Read and interpret system maps, construction drawings, and work orders.
Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, test results, and materials used.
Adhere to all safety standards, including OSHA and company-specific requirements.
Operate and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Collaborate with other technicians, contractors, and engineers to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
Experience: 1 3 years of experience in coax splicing, CATV construction, or a related telecommunications field.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of coaxial plant design and components
Familiarity with RF signal transmission and troubleshooting
Experience with sweep and signal testing equipment
Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and strand maps
Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and climb poles or ladders safely
Experience with fiber optic systems or hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks
Knowledge of node segmentation, return path alignment, and plant maintenance
Certifications in NCTI, SCTE, or equivalent technical programs
