Position Overview
Zedcor is seeking a Surveillance Systems Operator responsible for the configuration and performance of our mobile surveillance towers deployed across a wide range of industries and operating environments.
This role involves configuring cameras, setting detection zones, and ensuring towers are properly calibrated to detect real activity while minimizing nuisance alarms. The position is primarily computer-based and requires strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and comfort working with technical systems. A background in photography, videography, or camera operation is highly valued, as it brings a trained eye for framing, lighting, and field-of-view optimization that directly enhances system effectiveness.
This role requires discipline, focus, and attention to detail. Candidates with backgrounds in law enforcement, security, loss prevention, military, technical environments, or camera-based disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Remotely Aim and Configure surveillance cameras to ensure proper site coverage
- Adjust camera settings to maintain clear visibility in day and night conditions
- Set up and adjust detection zones and alarm criteria
- Accurately input, update, and maintain site data and camera settings
- Validate system performance after setup is completed
- Work closely with field technicians and operations teams
Qualifications & Requirements
- 12 years supporting video surveillance or audio-visual systems
- Working knowledge of video surveillance cameras and system configuration
- Familiar with remote device management and basic troubleshooting
- Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with computers and multiple software systems
- Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records
- Comfortable working in a desk-based role with extended computer use
- Clear and concise communication skills, with strong attention to detail in documentation
- Experience with photography, videography, or camera operation (professional or hobbyist), with an understanding of framing, lighting, and field-of-view optimization is an asset.
