Position Description:

The Community Life Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of meaningful programs and activities that enhance residents’ social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic well-being. This role helps create an engaging, safe, and welcoming environment by leading group and individual activities, encouraging resident participation, coordinating events and volunteers, and assisting with assessments, calendars, and related program needs. The Community Life Coordinator works collaboratively with residents, families, and other departments to promote quality of life and ensure activities are aligned with resident needs, organizational standards, and applicable regulations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with developing activity programs that meet residents’ social, emotional, physical, and therapeutic needs within the approved budget
• Maintains current, attractive bulletin boards with seasonal and appropriate décor
• Completes admission and quality-of-life activity assessments as scheduled or needed
• Leads activities; schedules entertainment and speakers; and coordinates volunteers
• Provides group and one-on-one activities based on residents’ needs
• Encourages resident participation in activities and events
• Distributes activity calendars to designated areas
• Coordinates activity-related event needs, including setup and food service, with other departments
• Ensures resident, visitor, and co-worker safety by remaining aware of and reporting new or existing hazards
• Maintains pets and pet environments, as assigned
• Assists with resident transportation, both on-site and off-site, during activities as needed
• Assists with purchasing resident activity supplies and event materials as needed
• Supports and develops regular programming, including music programming, as assigned by the Director of Residential Services
• Supports dementia-related programming and follows applicable training expectations based on resident needs in collaboration with nursing staff and the Patient Care Coordinator
• Models a service-oriented attitude toward residents, families, visitors, and team members
• Demonstrates ownership in resolving problems and takes initiative to improve processes and experiences
• Maintains professional, respectful, and courteous interactions with residents, visitors, and co-workers

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to understand and comply with applicable state and federal regulations related to activities programming

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Activity certification from an approved course, as required by the State of Texas, preferred
• One or more years of experience working with older adults in group activities preferred
• Working knowledge of activities programming for older adults preferred
• Experience working in memory care preferred
• Ability to lead therapeutic activities for residents with varying levels of need
• Ability to organize, document, and implement activity programs
• Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a positive approach to resident engagement



Compensation details: 18-20 Hourly Wage
