Job Description
Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Onsite)
Duration: 1-Year Contract (with potential extension for an additional year)
Rate: $80 - $95/hr (W2)
Travel: 30–40% throughout Ohio

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Engineering Construction Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale gas transmission and distribution infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing all phases of project execution including estimating, permitting, procurement, contractor coordination, land agreements, pipeline interconnects, construction oversight, commissioning, and project closeout.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in pipeline construction, utility infrastructure, and capital project management, with the ability to manage complex projects safely, efficiently, and within budget while coordinating across engineering, operations, contractors, regulators, and community stakeholders.
Required QualificationsEducation- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field
- 5+ years of experience managing construction-related projects
- 3+ years of experience working with pipeline construction contractors
- 3+ years of experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance
- Experience managing multiple project stakeholders and contractors simultaneously
- Experience supporting construction execution, permitting, procurement, and contractor management
- Valid Driver’s License
- Strong understanding of construction project management principles
- Experience managing project scope, schedule, cost, and risk
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work effectively across field and office environments
- Experience with project reporting, forecasting, and financial tracking
- PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification
- Knowledge of gas system design and operations including gas flow, construction practices, contracts, and emergency response
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal operating and construction codes
- Experience utilizing construction scheduling software and project controls tools
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project reporting tools
- Working knowledge of utility operations systems such as WMS and related technologies
- Manage planning, estimating, permitting, scheduling, procurement, and execution of gas transmission and distribution projects
- Establish project scope, schedule, cost baselines, and change management processes
- Develop project execution strategies to ensure successful project delivery
- Manage project risks and implement mitigation plans when necessary
- Monitor field construction activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution
- Coordinate contractors, inspectors, engineers, project specialists, and operations personnel
- Support contractor selection, bid evaluations, and procurement activities
- Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and construction specifications
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, expenditures, and financial performance
- Monitor capital spend versus approved budgets and forecasts
- Ensure timely invoice review, approval, and payment processing
- Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, land services, permitting, and regulatory teams
- Support Engineering, New Business, Sales & Services, and Operations groups with project planning and estimating activities
- Maintain effective communication with municipalities, local authorities, contractors, and customers
- Build strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups
- Monitor project schedules and key milestones
- Identify schedule impacts and develop corrective actions as necessary
- Provide project status updates and performance reporting to leadership
- Coordinate construction inspection schedules and field activities
- Ensure projects comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to company safety standards
- Support environmental compliance and regulatory requirements throughout project execution
- Deliver projects with no significant regulatory notices, violations, or citations
- Support commissioning, in-service activities, and final project turnover
- Manage project documentation, lessons learned, and closeout activities
- Ensure successful completion and transition of projects to operations
- Projects completed safely and in compliance with all applicable regulations
- Delivery of projects within 5% of approved cost estimates
- Successful management of contractor performance and construction activities
- Timely completion of project milestones and schedule objectives
- Strong stakeholder relationships and customer satisfaction
- Accurate forecasting, reporting, and financial management
