Position Summary:

The Quality Manager is responsible for the overall development and maintenance of an AS 9100 and ISO 9001 quality management system.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain the company's quality systems, policies, and procedures.

Review and approve Quality Department procedures and procedures pertaining to customer-approved processes.

Ensure procedures are properly understood and carried out.

Oversee quality training.

Approve changes to inspection and test equipment and methods

Lead the investigation of nonconformances charged to the Quality Department

Conduct performance reviews.

Monitor employee attendance, dependability, performance, and training.

Audit the work of inspectors to verify their effectiveness

Assign department personnel to write and maintain work instructions

Exercise fiscal responsibility through making cost effective purchasing decisions

Prioritize, plan, coordinate, and schedule department activities and workload to maintain an acceptable level of workflow.

Monitor and maintain:

oInternal audits

oQuality plans

oQA review and approval of purchase orders

oQuality training and training records

oCalibration system

oCorrective action system

oDelegated quality tasks

oInspection

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Physical Requirements

May sit or stand for extended periods at a time at a desk, bench, or table.

May be required to work at a computer terminal or near moving mechanical parts.

Close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required. The employee must pass a basic eye exam.

Finger, hand, and wrist dexterity with the ability to feel, finger, and handle parts and controls are required.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pound occasionally. In addition, the employee will occasionally be required to utilize equipment to move items in excess of 50 pounds.

Must be able to walk, stoop, kneel, or crawl.

Must be able to reach with hands and arms.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and hear. The employee must communicate fluently in English.

Must have a tolerance for stress.

Work Environment

Must be able to work in an environment typical of those encountered in a manufacturing facility including the use of chemicals.

Must have a tolerance for loud noises associated with industrial machinery.

Must have a tolerance for the noxious smells, vapors, odors, etc. that may emanate from uncovered processing baths or chemical containers.

Temperatures may range from hot to cold.

The work area may not have windows and light is from fluorescent tubes.

Education/Experience/Specialized Skills or knowledge:

Education Prefer bachelor degree

Specialized Skills or Knowledge

Must have 3 years of experience in aerospace quality management systems.

Must have demonstrated experience working with customers, suppliers, and distributors.

Must have basic knowledge of special processes, including heat treatment, chemical processing, paint, and NDT processes.

Must have experience in quality systems and audit and in conducting RCCA analysis.

Other Skills

Above average math and reading skills.

Good note taking skills.

Clear and legible handwriting.

Familiarity with standard office equipment, personal computers and software including, word processing, and spreadsheets.

Good organization.

Attentive to details and accuracy

Desire to own decisions and take responsibility for outcomes.

Willingness to travel when required.

Alignment with the Cygnus Code of Ethics.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
