About this job
Job Description
Stair Shop Helper / Trainee Stair builder — Long Island
Established Long Island stair company is hiring for shop positions in our stair building shop.
We are looking for reliable, hands-on people who are willing to work, follow instructions, and be part of a shop environment. Stair building experience is not required for all positions. The right person can be trained.
We are considering candidates for two possible shop roles:
Shop Helper / Shop Support
This role supports the daily operation of the shop. Work may include shop cleanup, organizing materials, sanding, loading and unloading, moving parts, assisting stair builders, maintaining work areas, and handling small tasks as needed.
This is a hands-on support position. It is a good fit for someone reliable, physically capable, willing to work, and comfortable doing routine shop tasks. This position does not require stair building experience and is not necessarily a stair builder training position.
Trainee Stair builder / Entry-Level Stair Shop Position
This role is for someone with stronger interest and potential to learn stair building over time. No stair building experience is required for the right person, but some experience with tools, woodworking, carpentry, shop work, construction, or other hands-on work is helpful.
The right candidate should be dependable, teachable, detail-oriented, able to follow instructions, and serious about learning a skilled trade.
General Requirements
Must show up on time and be reliable.
Must be able to work safely in a shop environment.
Must be able to lift, carry, move, and organize materials.
Must be willing to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Ability to read a tape measure is helpful. Willingness to learn is required.
Prior shop, carpentry, woodworking, construction, tool, or physical labor experience is helpful but not required for all positions.
Full-time preferred. Part-time trial schedule may be considered for the right candidate.
Pay
Starting pay: $18–$20 per hour, based on experience, reliability, attitude, ability to learn, and demonstrated fit for the role.
Future pay growth may be considered as skills, responsibility, and usefulness in the shop develop.
To Apply
Reply with your name, phone number, and a brief work history summary.
Please include any experience with tools, construction, woodworking, shop work, physical labor, warehouse work, maintenance, or other hands-on jobs.
Also mention whether you are interested in shop support, learning stair building, or either role.
A resume is helpful but not required.
