Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The Medical Biller will be responsible for submitting and following up on insurance claims, ensuring accurate billing practices, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical billing procedures, insurance verification, claims processing, and revenue cycle management. This is a part-time position or by contract.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers.
• Review patient accounts for billing accuracy and completeness.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
• Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
• Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and payment issues.
• Process patient billing statements and answer billing inquiries.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare regulations.
• Work closely with providers, coders, and office staff to ensure proper documentation and reimbursement.
• Generate billing reports and assist with account reconciliation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
• 1+ years of medical billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and billing software.
• Understanding of insurance guidelines, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Skills

• Certified Professional Biller (CPB) certification is a plus.
• Experience with revenue cycle management.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical and customer service skills.
