Join a professional and collaborative pediatric diabetes team where you'll play a vital role in improving patient outcomes through a unique blend of clinical care, patient data management, and care coordination. This dynamic Medical Assistant position offers the opportunity to work closely with providers and diabetes educators, identify patients needing additional support, and contribute to proactive, patient-centered care.
The Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician's office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure. The MA may also perform clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.
Responsibilities:Data Management & Patient Monitoring
- Review and manage electronic inboxes to extract and analyze patient data, including A1c results and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) readings
- Identify patients who require closer follow-up or intervention based on clinical indicators
- Organize and compile relevant patient data for care teams
Care Coordination
- Communicate findings and escalate patient concerns by sharing collated data with diabetes educators and healthcare providers
- Support timely intervention efforts to improve patient outcomes
Clinical Support
- Assist with diabetes-specific patient rooming during clinic visits
- Collect and document relevant health information in accordance with clinic protocols
Operational Support
- Collaborate with clinical staff to distribute workload between administrative and clinical duties
Training
- Comprehensive training will be provided to align with clinic workflows, systems, and diabetes care protocols
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant Accredited MA certifications include, but are not limited to, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AAMA and AMT.
- EMT license can be used in lieu of an MA certification.
- One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred.
- Person should display initiative, have the ability to multitask, and be able to assume additional responsibilities.
- Proven ability to problem-solve and be a team member is essential.
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Medical Assistant certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based care environment
- Interest or experience in diabetes care management is a plus
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
- Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
- Basic Life Support (CPR) required or must be obtained within first ninety days of employment. Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR). Licensure must be secured through the AHA or Red Cross.
Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:
