Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work with elementary students in grades 3-4, supporting learners with developmental disabilities. This role is based in Central Falls, RI, and covers the 2026/2027 school year, providing a chance to make a genuine difference in a close-knit classroom environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching license in Rhode Island, or eligibility for a mild-moderate or severe license in MA or RI.
  • Prior experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in a setting for developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with teaching assistants (1:3 staff-to-student ratio).
  • Strong communication skills for building positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Open to candidates eager to expand their skills—comprehensive training is provided at the beginning of the school year.

Position Details & Responsibilities:

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, on a contract basis.
  • Assigned to one school, ensuring continuity with students and staff.
  • Manage a small classroom (<8 students) of third and fourth graders with developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans based on student needs and IEP goals.
  • Work alongside paraprofessionals and assistants to maintain optimal learning environments.
  • Participate in professional development and ongoing training opportunities.
  • Leverage support and supervision from paraprofessionals, RBTs, CNAs, or LPNs as available.
