The Chemist II independently plans and executes laboratory experiments, generates high-quality analytical data, and ensures strict compliance with GMP/GLP and safety standards. This role focuses on using advanced analytical instrumentation to support research and development activities, interpreting complex data, and clearly communicating findings to scientific audiences. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fully onsite, regulated laboratory environment and contribute to impactful scientific projects.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute laboratory experiments using established procedures and sound technical judgment.
- Operate and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, MS, ICP, and related systems to support testing needs.
- Generate accurate, reliable, and reproducible data within agreed timelines to support project and business objectives.
- Document all experiments, observations, and results in compliance with GxP, GMP, and GLP requirements.
- Interpret experimental data, draw scientifically sound conclusions, and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and refine protocols and methods for more complex or non-routine testing scenarios.
- Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety procedures, regulatory standards, and quality system requirements at all times.
- Use computer systems, including spreadsheets and instrument software, to collect, process, analyze, and archive data.
- Prepare clear, well-organized reports and presentations summarizing experimental design, results, and conclusions.
- Present experimental findings and recommendations to internal teams and, when needed, external scientific audiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a regulated laboratory environment to support ongoing research and development projects.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure proper calibration and performance, and report or address issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related field
- Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, UV/VIS, MS, ICP, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated lab research experience in academic and/or industry settings with a track record of delivering results.
- Familiarity with GMP, GLP, GxP, or other regulated laboratory environments.
This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $36.00/hr.
