Job Description
Job Title: Interventional Radiology Tech
Location: Tulsa OK
Shift: M-F, 4-10s with rotation on call
Job Summary:
Provides advanced procedural and radiologic support to physicians; maintains a well-stocked and clean work environment; assists in pre and post procedural patient care; rotates on-call responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities:
-Provides patient care appropriate to the patient population in a sterile environment under the guidance of the physician assists in pre and post procedural care; cross-trained to scrub on all procedures; communicates with appropriate personnel for follow up of procedure patients and identifies any specific learning needs; assists in other areas of the radiology department as needed.
-Systematically and continuously collects, assesses, and documents data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide procedural care for the patient.
-Documents the chronological events of the procedure and medical care during the procedure in Epic.
-Assists in image management and processing and troubleshoots equipment problems.
-Provides patient care within a broad range of health care needs during non-cardiac procedures to include, but not limited to mechanical thrombectomies, angioplasty, stent placements, biopsies, line placements, thrombolysis, embolizations, coils, drainage catheters, and IVC filters.
-Actively participates in the Universal Protocol for all invasive procedures.
-Foresees potential problems, adapts priorities, and plans independently with and without outside direction.
-Assists with monitoring the patient's level of moderate sedation in conjunction with the procedure performed and individual patient's clinical state.
-Initiates additional patient comfort measure/alternatives for sedation, as appropriate.
-Assures informed consent has been obtained on the patient prior to the start of the procedure and all questions and concerns have been answered to the patient's satisfaction.
-Operates specialized equipment during procedures according to protocols under limited physician supervision (i.e. Rotational Angiography with 3-D reconstruction, ultrasound guidance, contrast injectors, detachable coils, etc.).
-Attends vendor in-services to learn new equipment and is a resource to other employees and physicians on its proper use; supports new technology and assists in implementing protocols.
-Stocking/departmental maintenance cleans and disinfects daily to promote aseptic environment, checks the status of the equipment daily to ensure devices are in proper working order; reviews daily schedule to verify all necessary supplies are available; communicates with material control tech and/or supervisor concerning supply issues.
-Supports department/hospital goals through personal improvements and educational activities attends mandatory in-services and meets department education standards; modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and meets department requirements; aides in collection of statistics and presents findings in a logical, professional manner for process improvement.
-Maintains professional standards in conjunctions with those practice standards recommended by societies such as ARRT and ASRT.
-Trains new personnel and acts as a mentor to them.
-Decision Making: Independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
-Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise).
-Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise).
-Works directly with patients and/or customers.
-Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction.
-Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.

Required Skills & Experience:
-Minimum six (6) months of related experience.
-Basic computer skills.
-Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the moderate sedation process.
-Demonstrate technical skills, trouble shooting skills, and expert knowledge of catheters and equipment used during non-cardiovascular procedures.
-Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
-Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
-Ability to integrate the analysis of data to Client facts or develop knowledge, concepts or interpretations.
-Ability to work independently and with a team.
-Ability to always demonstrate ethical and professional behaviors.
-Capable of wearing lead aprons for an extended period of time.

-Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
