Position Summary:
The CNC Programmer creates and optimizes CNC programs for milling and turning operations. This role supports tooling, fixturing, program prove-out, and operator coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable machining.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of experience in CNC programming within a machining or industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience creating and optimizing CNC programs for both milling and turning operations.

  • Experience with multi-axis and/or multi-tool CNC machines preferred.

  • Strong understanding of cutting tools, feeds, speeds, work holding, and fixturing methods.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining requirements.

  • Location – Wausau/Schofield, Wisconsin area.

Skills Required:

  • CNC programming for milling, turning, and multi-tool machining centers.

  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting parameters, tool selection, and cycle time optimization.

  • Experience with work holding, fixturing concepts, and setup improvement.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and revise CNC programs during prove-out and production support.

  • Knowledge of machine tooling, inserts, offsets, and tool life management.

  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and process specifications accurately.

  • Familiarity with CAM software (prefer for Auto desk Future CAM), CNC controls, and program verification methods.

  • Strong coordination with machine operators, manufacturing engineers, and quality teams.

  • Continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing documentation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, modify, and maintain CNC programs for milling and turning operations based on engineering drawings and production requirements.

  • Develop programs for machines that handle multiple tools and complex machining sequences within the same setup.

  • Select the correct cutting tools, inserts, holders, feeds, and speeds to achieve required quality and cycle time targets.

  • Define and improve work holding and fixturing concepts to support safe, repeatable, and efficient machining.

  • Coordinate closely with CNC operators and setup personnel during program prove-out, first-piece validation, and production startup.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and revise programs to improve dimensional accuracy, tool life, and machine utilization.

  • Support new part introduction by developing machining programs, setup methods, and process documentation.

  • Review part prints, tolerances, and GD&T requirements to ensure manufacturability and process capability.

  • Maintain program revision control and document programming changes, setup requirements, and tooling information.

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support continuous improvement and standardization.

  • Assist in reducing cycle time, improving process stability, and supporting cost reduction initiatives.
