Position Overview

Valley Children's Healthcare is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) with specialized Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience to join its nationally recognized pediatric care team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric recovery nursing, providing comprehensive post-operative care to infants, children, and adolescents recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. The RN will be responsible for monitoring patients during the immediate recovery phase, managing pain and airway needs, assessing post-anesthesia complications, and ensuring a safe transition to the next level of care.

Schedule
  • Shift: Day Shift
  • Hours: 4 x 10-Hour Shifts
  • Shift Time: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Required Experience
  • Recent Pediatric PACU (Recovery Room) experience required
  • Experience caring for pediatric patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
  • Ability to assess and manage post-operative complications
  • Experience with pediatric airway management and recovery monitoring
  • Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients.
  • Monitor vital signs, neurological status, respiratory function, and pain levels during recovery.
  • Assess and manage post-operative complications, including airway concerns, nausea, pain, and hemodynamic instability.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Adhere to all patient safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards.
