Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Remote Truss Designer to join a well-established and growing building components manufacturer. This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys solving complex structural challenges and wants to work on a diverse mix of commercial, multifamily, and residential projects using MiTek software.

What You'll Do
- Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software.
- Produce accurate, code-compliant truss placement plans and engineered design packages.
- Focus primarily on commercial and multifamily projects, while also supporting custom residential and production home builders.
- Review architectural and structural plans to develop practical, cost-effective truss solutions.
- Coordinate with sales representatives, engineers, project managers, and customers throughout the design process.
- Optimize designs for manufacturability while maintaining structural integrity and customer requirements.
- Respond to design revisions and RFIs in a timely manner.
- Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Stay current with building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of truss design experience (commercial and multifamily experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency using MiTek Structure or MiTek Sapphire.
- Strong understanding of wood truss engineering principles and structural load paths.
- Ability to interpret architectural and structural construction documents.
- Experience designing roof and floor truss systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects in a remote work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with large-scale commercial, hospitality, student housing, military, or multifamily projects.
- Knowledge of IRC, IBC, and applicable building codes.
- Experience working directly with contractors, framers, and engineers.
- Familiarity with wall panels or engineered wood products is a plus.
