Job Summary
The Project Manager - Interiors Division manages all aspects of commercial interior construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This role requires working knowledge of interior trades, including drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, millwork, doors/frames/hardware, paint, and finishes. The Project Manager is responsible for project planning, budget management, client relations, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring successful project delivery on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of interior construction projects from contract award through closeout
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans
- Coordinate interior trades including drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, millwork, doors/frames/hardware, and finish work
- Serve as primary client contact and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, and consultants
- Review contract documents, drawings, and specifications to identify scope and potential issues
- Process and negotiate change orders, RFIs, and submittals in a timely manner
- Conduct regular project meetings with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members
- Monitor project costs, track expenses, and implement cost control measures to protect margins
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards across all job sites
- Collaborate with field superintendents to resolve construction issues and maintain schedule
- Prepare monthly progress reports, billing applications, and project documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience managing commercial interior construction projects
- Working knowledge of interior trades, construction methods, and building systems
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, specifications, and building codes
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgets
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship skills
- Proficiency with project management software, scheduling tools (Procore, MS Project, etc.), and Microsoft Office
- Experience with budget development, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- OSHA 30 certification preferred
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to multiple job sites
Work Environment
This position requires regular visits to active construction sites as well as office-based work for project administration and coordination. It involves split time between field and office environments and may require flexibility to attend meetings and address project issues outside standard business hours.
