Position: Commercial Lines Account Executive / Team Lead

Salary Range: $85,000 – $135,000 / year

Job Summary:
The Commercial Lines Account Executive / Team Lead manages a high-value, complex book of commercial business while supervising a dedicated service team. This role requires deep expertise across standard and niche commercial coverages, with a focus on Construction, Warehouses, Habitation, and Entertainment industries. The ideal candidate will balance high-level client strategy, specialized market placements, and day-to-day operational team leadership.
Core Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Operations:
- Direct Supervision: Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of Commercial Lines Account Managers and Support Staff.
- Workflow Management: Delegate accounts, audit files for quality assurance, and balance workloads across the team.
- Training & Development: Onboard new staff and provide ongoing technical training on coverage, markets, and agency systems.
- Process Improvement: Standardize workflows to maximize efficiency and maintain strict compliance with agency and carrier guidelines.
Specialized Account Management:
- Portfolio Ownership: Retain and grow a complex, high-revenue book of commercial lines business focused on Construction, Warehouses, Habitation, and Entertainment.
- Strategic Renewals: Formulate and execute renewal strategies 90 days in advance, leading client presentations and strategy meetings.
- Complex Exposure Review: Analyze client exposures to recommend specialized coverages, including D&O, E&O, Fiduciary Liability, Crime, Ocean Marine, and Group Travel-Accident.
- Niche Risk Placement: Evaluate and secure placement for highly technical risks, including Habitational Risks, Transportation, Warehouse Coverages, Bonding, Product Liability, and Intellectual Property (Copyright/Trademark, Advertising Liability, Patent Infringement).
Carrier Relations & Marketing:
- Market Negotiations: Build strong relationships with local, regional, and national insurance carriers to secure competitive pricing and terms.
- Placement Strategy: Direct the marketing of new and renewal business, ensuring submissions are accurate, complete, and compelling.
- Product Expertise: Stay current on market trends, specialized coverages, and emerging industry risks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of commercial lines insurance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Licensing: Active Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license required.
- Niche Knowledge: Proven track record handling technical lines, specialty coverages, bond placements, and complex habitational/construction risks.
- Tech Savvy: Proficiency with standard agency management systems (e.g., Applied Epic, AMS360) and standard Microsoft Office products.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for client presentations and team coaching.
