Job Description
POSITION: Terminal/Custodial Worker
REPORTS TO: Landside Supervisor
LOCATION: New York Stewart International Airport (SWF)
SUMMARY - Responsible for all custodial duties and light maintenance in and around the terminal as well as buildings 110, 138, 142, 2290 (Bays 1, 2 & 3).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Under direction of the Landside Supervisor:
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and professional look inside the FIS and the Airport Terminal at all times.
- Empty trash and garbage containers inside and outside of the terminal including the frontage of the parking lot.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, or otherwise clean windows, offices, breakrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and public areas as assigned, inside and outside the Terminal building.
- Operate floor and carpet cleaners, vacuums, and other cleaning machinery as directed, always in a safe manner.
- Responsible for cleaning all HVAC vents and Lighting Fixtures.
- Responsible for Terrazzo floor cleaning and maintenance.
- Check and maintain soap, paper, and other dispensers.
- Notify supervisor of the need for building or equipment repairs.
- Runs business errands as necessary.
- Perform some outdoor and light winter duties.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned.
- Participate in Total Quality Management programs.
- Group and team work outside of daily routines will be assigned when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent Knowledge of the English Language, both oral and written. Ability to speak and understand the Spanish language is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Observation of maintenance and safety needs communicated to management in a timely manner.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Employee must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a condition of employment. Driving record must meet company eligibility. Must be able to qualify for a SIDA Badge with CBP endorsement.

The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
