Job Description
QLM is seeking a Database Specialist - Structures Focus for a full-time advanced level position involving technical work with a highway materials testing application. This position maintains portions of the MAC (Materials Acceptance and Certification) system and performs advanced database functions. The position requires a highly motivated and organized employee to create customized entries while ensuring the system is consistent across materials and technical areas. This position will be working with the Materials Program Performance Section. It is an in-office position with no option for remote work.
  • Develops and maintains MAC Specifications for the Structural Materials Program.
  • Creates, revises and maintains Structural Materials Program test definitions including targets and limits, and other sampling and testing requirements.
  • Develops reports and applications; performs data processing using appropriate software, storage, and analysis; and prepares detailed engineering reports on findings.
  • Works to ensure the test definitions, comparison definitions, evaluation checklists and inspection checklists are up to date while ensuring the system is consistent.
  • Assists the Quality Systems unit with database and reporting development and maintenance.
  • Assists the Database Information Team in data compilation and analysis.
  • Troubleshoots issues with data, uploads, and application programming.
  • Assists in FDOT Service Desk tickets pertaining to MAC.
  • Assesses MAC access requests and ensures they are processed by the appropriate District Application Coordinator.
  • Assists with programming enhancements to MAC in compliance with the Office of Information Technology's application development standards.
  • Assists with State Materials Office SharePoint development and maintenance including Power Apps.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates experience in data entry and quality review.

  • Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft programs such as Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Access, and Excel
  • Prior experience working with relational database management system (RDBMS)
  • Proficiency in Visual Basic
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • PowerBI
  • Business Intelligence tools and concepts
  • Strong communication skills

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Experience in data entry and quality review
